Risk Management Workshop for the Pan-European Executive MBA students of CITY College for a 7th year!

‘Risk Management: A way to avoid Crisis Management and Management of Losses’ was the title of  the workshop conducted with 2 teams of MBA students on 09th and 10th of April 2024. The workshop was conducted for a 7th year in a row and was addressed to 79 Pan-European Executive MBA 2nd year students of CITY College from 13 countries (Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia, Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Greece, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Iran, China, Ukraine and Albania). The Pan-European Executive MBA is a unique dual degree MBA programme jointly offered by CITY College, University of York Europe Campus and the Faculty of Economics and Management of the prestigious University of Strasbourg.

The current business climate is increasingly uncertain and companies need their employees to be competent, efficient and knowledgeable when it comes to managing Opportunities and Threats. Every employee need to ensure he or she is up-to-date on international standards and best practice required effectively mitigating threats and capitalizing on opportunities to save company’s time and money.

During our workshop, participants were familiarized with all the processes of Risk Management during a Project through a detailed and realistic scenario.

First, we read and analyzed our Project Charter and then participants were separated into teams and started to identify the Stakeholders of the Project.

Next step was the composition of our Risk Management Plan which was followed by the Identification of Opportunities and Threats of the Project. The workshop teams have used the appropriate Risk templates and fill them in after arguments regarding the nature of each Risk:

Afterwards, we discussed about the Analysis of the Identified Risks through Qualitative methods so as to prioritize Opportunities and Threats:

Our last actions were the Identification of Risk Responses and how we will monitor our Risks during the execution of the project:

The smiling faces at the end of the workshop are the evidence that objective was accomplished and knowledge was gained!

PM² Methodology Workshop for the MSc students of CITY College, University of York Europe Campus!

Project Management Methodology (PM²) of European Union was introduced for the first time as a full semester module and was addressed to 11 MSc students of CITY College from 5 countries (Kosovo, Serbia, Armenia, Greece and North Macedonia). The aim of the PM² workshop is not only knowledge but all MSc Students to be certified with the PM² Advanced certification through the test center of PM² Alliance.

Every Workshop starts with a Training Kick booster Lego game, so as to understand the importance of communication, team coordination and using a methodology!

During our workshop, participants were familiarized with all the processes of PM² during a Project through a detailed and realistic scenario. First, we read and analyzed our Project Charter and then participants were separated into teams and started to identify the Stakeholders of the Project.

Next step was the composition of our Product Breakdown Structure (PBS) which was followed by creation of the Work Breakdown structure (WBS) as well as the whole Prtoject triangule (Schedule & Budget). The workshop teams have used the appropriate PM² templates & tools so as to fill them in after arguments regarding the nature of each requirement/task of the client!

Afterwards, we discussed about the Project Plans and how to properly tailor them to our project.

Our last actions were the Identification of Risks, the Risk Analysis, Risk responses and how we will monitor our Risks during the execution of the project.

The smiling faces at the end of the workshop and the filled PM² templates are a evidence that objective was accomplished and knowledge was gained in a joinfull way!

Conclusion of my classes for 2023 in City College!!!

This week all my workshop based courses in the CITY College, University of York Europe Campus were concluded for a 7th year in a row! These workshop based courses started on 10th of January 2023 with 95 students from 16 different countries (such as Armenia, North Macedonia, Greece, Serbia, Albania, Saudi Arabia, Georgia, Bulgaria, Taiwan, Turkey, Russia & Kosovo). All participants were Undergraduate and Postgraduate students of the Business Administration & Economy Department.

During these workshops students gained knowledge concerning the principles and the procedures in areas like Risk Management, Project Management and Operations Management in business world according to PMI and PM² standards. Moreover, they examined a number of real case studies, conducted a variety of activities and they gain knowledge from 3 different Guest Lecturers who are SME’s in their field of work:

a. Team building & Training buster games:

b. Selection of appropriate templates for Risk Management, Project Management and creating a “War Room” for a Project

c. Arguments during Workshop for Identified Stakeholders, Identifying & Analyzing Risks

d. Role play during a meeting of the Risk Team

e. Furthermore, like every year 2 days of Risk Workshops was conducted during MBA week on April 23 for 83 students from around Europe so as to be familiarized with the concepts of Risk Management:

A Lessons Learned Workshop for the personnel of A1 Bulgaria through Agile PM² on 11th & 12th of May 2023!

On Thursday 11th of May and Friday 12th of May 2023, through a training programme of the Executive Development Institute (EDi) of City College, University of York Europe Campus, I have conducted 2 Workshops with the title “ A Project Management Approach to Learning: From Observations to Lessons Learned” for 43 employees of A1 Bulgaria company in #Sofia

The aim of this training activity was to familiarize the participants with the concept/process of Lessons Learned, in order to enhance their effectiveness, individually and collectively, while they are executing projects or operations in A1 company.

Every Workshop starts with a Training Kick booster Lego game, so as to understand the importance of communication, team coordination and why you have to use a methodology (Agile or Waterfall)!

During the workshops, 43 employees (in 2 groups) from 6 different departments of the company, gained theoretical knowledge, concerning the principles and the procedures of Lessons Learned through new Agile concepts of the business world

Participants worked on a full scenario concerning a telecommunication company, where they had executed all the steps of Lessons Learned abbreviated (quick) process, from Observations to Lessons Identified and then to Lessons Learned through the Agile PM² Methodology and by using an adjusted PM² Agile KANBAN Board.

These workshop based courses started on 01st of March 2022 with 109 students from 9 different countries (such as Armenia, North Macedonia, Greece, Serbia, Albania, Saudi Arabia, Georgia, Bulgaria & Kosovo). All participants were Undergratuate and Postgraduate students of the Business Administration & Economy Department.

During these workshops students gained knowledge concerning the principles and the procedures in areas like Risk Management, Project Management and Operations Management in business world according to PMI and PM² standards. Moreover, they examined a number of real case studies, conducted a variety of activities and they gain knowledge from 5 different Guest Lecturers who are SME’s in their field of work:
